The Providence American had the opportunity to catch up with Sixcia for a cup of coffee that turned into a desire to tell Sixcias story.
PA: Sixcia thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me and to share your new business concepts with the readers of The Providence American. What does Sixcia stand for?
SD: Thank you Peter. So I have established S I X C I A Business that stands for Strategic, Innovative, eXperts, Creating, International, Action, an acronym for my new Business, but it is also my name, as you know.
PA: Sixcia is an unusual name, how did your parents come to name you Sixcia.
SD: The story behind my name is equally unusual. My mom tried for 6 years to have a baby, but it was after 6 fertility treatments that I was born, hence the SIX. Somehow the CIA was introduced into the story so I was told by my dad, and Sixcia became my name (smile).
PA: Great story, especially the CIA part. So how does SIXCIA Business work?
SD: S I X C I A Business is a network of Business Development Experts that love creating purpose, passion and profit for companies (see website www.sixcia.com). We take a holistic view, incorporating economic, social, and ecological aspectslooking beyond just the functional aspects of the issue.
S I X C I A Business unifies people and inspires passion. This is what drives our company.
PA: So where did this concept come from?
SD: The concept(s) are common sense. You must have a vision, a strategy and the knowledge to execute your plan. Peter you know I was brought up on the Southside of Providence and had a somewhat challenging childhood. But I found Talent Development or maybe I should say Talent Development found me, and from there things changed in my life. I graduated from URI traveled to Europe and worked in a variety of business enterprises. But it was my Grandmother Argentinas advice for life that brought it all together. She always emphasized the need to be focused on whatever you do, do it well and help others to be successful in life. Hence S I X C I A.
PA: So who are some of your clients?
SD: Our Vision is to help US businesses build, network and sell products in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe resulting in job creation and positive economic spurts. Establishing your business in Latin America is profitable. Our contacts in Latin American regions are invaluable. We can provide an excellent network of connections but also insight into industry regulations, risk management, country reports, market/industry overviews, competitive analysis, local financing, and legal regulations.
PA: It sounds like a great opportunity Sixcia. Good luck with S I X C I A Business. So when you are not developing businesses what else are you involved in these days?
SD: Well besides my family, I have Caritas Smile my non-profit that has provided toys and gifts to children in the Dominican Republic that would otherwise go without. I started the organization after my mom and I brought some toys and gifts that we had to DR one year. After seeing the SMILES on those kids faces I had to do it again and now we have this tremendous out pouring of givers from around the globe. It has truly been amazing.
PA: How do you manage to get all those toys and gifts to DR and then distributed?
SD: Up to now its been me and my family doing the delivery, but fund raisers and donations have been coming in at a rate to meet our commitments thus far. In fact we have some fund raisers coming up. We have our Business Social Networking-Meaningful Business Connections, April 25th 5-8PM- The GRANDE, 224 Atwells Ave. Suggested donation of $10 go towards Caritas Smile. A Wine and Cheese Art Show to benefit Caritas Smile, May 2013. Cultural Spanish Immersion, 4 weeks, June 2013.
Theres a Masquerade Ball, Gala Event to support needy children in developing countries, November, 2013; and Caritas Smile Cultural Immersion Tour, Dominican Republic January, 2014.
PA: Sixcia I do not know how you get it all done but I am glad you are doing it. I see our time is up but I would like to say good luck to you in all your endeavors and thank you again for your time, insight and above all that Smile.
