Donald S. Keel has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. He brings to the Center a wealth of experience in management and fundraising for not-for-profit organizations.
Keel's several decades of experience have included serving as vice president of two private colleges, associate vice chancellor of a state university, and director of development of the largest symphony orchestra south of Atlanta. He has helped create private foundations for two state museums and directed multi-million-dollar fundraising campaigns.
"We welcome Don Keel's leadership to The Genesis Center at a time when the Center is facing serious challenges to provide high quality educational services to our immigrant population," said Dean Martins, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Shannon Carroll, Vice President for Programs, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations. She will oversee all the Genesis Center's educational and hildcare programs.
"Shannon's initiatives over the past two years have enhanced the quality of our programs and services to our immigrant community, helping them to realize the dreams which brought them here," Martins said.
The Genesis Center was founded in 1982 by Father Daniel Trainor and Sister Angela Daniels and provides workforce training, teaches English as a second language, provides child care, offers educational programs in the health care and hospitality fields, and provides job placement and direct services to immigrants from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
