CENTRAL FALLS, RI – A ground breaking is scheduled for this
Thursday, June 29 at 10:00am at 63 Fletcher Street for a new homeownership
The project is a unique collaboration between Pawtucket
Central Falls Development (PCF Development) and the Central Falls Nuisance Task
Force. The Central Falls Nuisance Task Force is a holistic and a
collaborative approach among city officials in identifying and abating nuisance
properties that impact the health and life of city residents. The Task
Force identified 63 Fletcher Street – a blighted 6-unit property – as one of
the city’s worst nuisance properties in the City. The property was
ordered vacated by the City’s municipal housing court after it fell into such
disrepair that it was no longer habitable.
The court then placed the property into receivership.
Thereafter, the Task Force funded $100,000 for the demolition of this towering,
nuisance property (pictures here).
With the property cleared, the Municipal Court approved the sale of the
property to PCF Development. Finally, the Nuisance Task Force awarded PCF
Development $100,000 to develop an owner-occupied, two-family home on the site.
The homeowner will occupy one unit and the other will be available for rent.
“It has been a top priority of my administration to get rid
of nuisance properties and increase homeownership,” said Mayor James
Diossa. “This project is amazing because it tackles both issues and will
substantially improve the quality of life on Fletcher Street for our city
“We are thrilled to continue building homeownership
opportunities in partnership with the City of Central Falls,” said Pawtucket
Central Falls Development Executive Director Linda Weisinger. “We have a
pipeline of city residents who are looking to purchase their first home home
and plant roots in the community. This development will provide another
city resident a home to call their own and achieve their dream of
Diossa and Weisinger will be joined by officials from
financing partners for the project including LISC RI and the Pawtucket Credit
The Fletcher Street project is a continuation of PCF
Development’s investment on this street and in the city. PCF Development’s
current neighborhood revitalization efforts include the recent groundbreaking
ceremony on Branch Street in Pawtucket, which include 39-41 Knight Street in
