Providence, RI – The Cumberland Town Council unanimously approved a resolution
supporting the proposed school construction plan, which includes
a $250M State GO Bond to make a once-in-a-generation investment in Rhode
Island's public school buildings.
State Representative James McLaughlin was
present at the meeting and spoke in support of the resolution, “In reference to
the resolution and the bond issue that is before us I would ask wholeheartedly
that this council support this resolution. As you all know, it’s badly needed
throughout the state."
Cumberland joins the Bristol and West
Greenwich Town Councils, and the Central Falls and Providence City Councils,
which have all passed supporting resolutions.
The Barrington, Bristol-Warren, Chariho,
Coventry, Cumberland East Greenwich, East Providence, Exeter-West Greenwich,
Middletown, Newport, North Smithfield, Pawtucket, Portsmouth, Smithfield, South
Kingstown, Warwick, Westerly, and Woonsocket School Committees have also
passed supporting resolutions.
