BALTIMORE (August 10, 2018)—The NAACP today condemned the
violent and hateful actions of a Florida man, Ronald Morris Wadford who stalked
and threatened to lynch the NAACP Alachua, Florida County President.
“During a time when we have White Nationalists rallying
around our nation, and a White House and Justice Department which condones
racism in both action, words and policy, it’s important that we take all
threats of violence to our organization and community seriously,” said Leon W.
Russell, NAACP Board Chairman.”
According to a report in The Hill, “Wadford, whom the Sun
identified as homeless, allegedly called NAACP President Evelyn Foxx six times
in November 2016 to threaten her, according to a Gainesville Police Department
complaint filed on Dec. 30, 2016, the Sun reported.”
who allegedly said he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, was arrested on hate
crime charges by the Gainesville Police Department yesterday.
