During the month of April, the Providence Fire Department will be testing the 3,000 fire hydrants located throughout the city. The testing may cause agitation to the main water supply lines. Firefighters will take special care to minimize this agitation. In the rare event that your water appears discolored, the discoloration is due to oxidation in the water line. To clear the discoloration, residents are instructed to run their tap to clear the discoloration from the line.
