CRANSTON, RI  Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS) has received the prestigious Gold Standard Award from the National Leadership Council of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The award was presented this year to just 13 agencies among the 355 Big Brother and Big Sister agencies that operate nationwide.

BBBSOS is now a finalist for the Agency of the Year Award to be presented at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. in June.

The Gold Standard Award is presented annually to those agencies who maintain and exceed a rigorous set of criteria, which includes growth in matching boys and girls with new mentors, exceptional retention rates in both the community-based and site-based programs, and providing consistent and outstanding service and support to the agencies existing matches.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State is Rhode Islands leading mentoring organization, and has been serving boys and girls in the area for 45 years.
